Borowicz: More Than $811,000 Awarded for School Safety

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton/Union) on Friday announced four school districts serving the 76th Legislative District will be awarded a combined $811,837 in state funding that could be used to improve safety in those districts.

“Protecting our children and the people who work in our schools must remain a priority,” Borowicz said. “I strongly encourage our local school districts to put these dollars toward practical, physical security improvements that help keep students, teachers and staff safe. That could include armed security guards, strengthening secure entrances, improving access-control systems, upgrading security cameras or enhancing emergency communications. These are the kinds of investments that can make a real difference in protecting our school communities.”

The grants are:

  • Jersey Shore Area School District - $195,044.
  • Keystone Central School District - $263,391.
  • Lewisburg Area School District - $177,689.
  • Mifflinburg Area School District - $175,713.

The noncompetitive grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Each school district receives a base allocation of $100,000, plus additional funding calculated using its 2024-25 adjusted average daily membership.
