Yaw, Borowicz: Over $1.2 Million Awarded for Transportation Improvements in Kelly Township

August 18, 2026

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Clinton/Union) announced $1,210,819 in state funding has been awarded in Kelly Township, Union County though the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).

Funding will support Kelly Township’s construction of a new roundabout at Hospital Drive, along with new pedestrian connections to improve accessibility and safety. The project also includes widening and realigning nearby roadways to improve traffic flow and accommodate the new intersection.

“This project is the result of years of advocacy and a lot of hard work and determination by Kelly Township,” Yaw said. “These improvements will make Hospital Drive safer and easier to navigate for residents, hospital patients, employees and emergency responders and I’m pleased to see this important investment in our area finally come to fruition.”

“This $1.2 million is tremendous news for Kelly Township,” said Borowicz. “The new roundabout will improve safety and traffic flow at Hospital Drive and JPM Road while supporting the community’s continued growth.”

The MTF offers funding to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as investments in ports, rail freight and aviation projects. PennDOT selected 50 plans totaling $54 million during this latest application round. Applications for the next round of funding for grants under the MTF will be accepted starting on Sept. 14, 2026.
